National Instittue for Medical Research (NIMR)

The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) is the largest public health research institution in Tanzania. It was established by the Parliamentary Act No. 23 of 1979 as a parastatal organization under the Ministry of Health. The establishment of NIMR was in recognition by the government of the need to generate scientific information required in the development of better methods and techniques of enhancing disease management, prevention and control in the country.

Health Research User's Trust Fund (HRUTF)

Health Research Users' Trust Fund (HRUTF) was founded in 1996 by the NIMR to enhance demand-driven health research efforts to overcome problems associated with communicable diseases, pregnancy and delivery, malnutrition, chronic underfunding of the health sector, and management of the health systems. HRUTF addresses health research problems identified by stakeholders

Many vector-borne diseases present epidemic, whereby models can guide public health policy decisions makers on surveillance and control of these epidemics.
