INVESTIGATING KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICES OF ANTENATAL CARE SERVICES AMONG PREGNANT WOMEN ATTENDING RCH CLINIC

Antenatal care is a medical and general care that is provided to pregnant women during pregnancy. A number of studies indicate that the Antenatal Care utilization rate is still low due to many factors that need to be examined such as socio demographic factors, knowledge of social support. Word wide nearly 600,000 women aged between 15 and 49 die each year as the result of complications arising from pregnancy and child birth.The general objective of this research is assessment of knowledge and practices of antenatal care among pregnant women attending RCH clinic in Mbeya 2019.The study is aimed at finding out the level of knowledge and practices of pregnant women in Mbeya which will help in knowing the extent of the problem still present, hence appropriate measures to be taken.The area of study will be Mbeya urban and target population will be pregnant women attending RCH clinic. The study design for this research will be cross-sectional study. The sample size for this study will be 138, and the sampling procedure will be convenient sampling which will be done based on the characteristics of a population and the objectives of the study. All pregnant women found at the clinic and willing to participate in the study will included in the study. Data collected from questionnaire will be checked, verified and entered into computer database of SPSS statistics.
